About the Author

Karen "Doc" Halligan is the Director of Veterinary Services at the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals of Los Angeles (spcaLA) and was on the ground in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, dealing firsthand with the animals abandoned by Hurricane Katrina. She appears regularly on Animal Planet and Animal Rescue 911 and television news shows throughout the country. She shares her life in Los Angeles with Kinky and Nathan, two very spoiled and healthy cats.
