Hi Doc Halligan,
I met you at the Pet Expo in Orange County this past spring, and I actually have a question (or two) for you.
First off let me say that I absolutely loved your book. I thank you for offering it to me as a gift, but I could honestly say that it is perhaps the best buy ever. I also bought a copy and gave it to my best friend, who is currently in the market for a new puppy, and she was thrilled to have a great resource for the millions of questions she has.
I am actually contacting you because I had interviewed you at the Pet Expo for a story I was doing on the Pet Food Recall. Because I had no intention on meeting or interviewing you at the time, I failed to ask you to sign a release form to possibly use your sound bite for any other project. I don't know if you remember but I asked a variety of question, including topics on your book. So I would like to get your permission to use part of your interview for two possible projects that I am working on . . . one on the spay and neuter legislation that is on the next California senate legislative terms agenda . . . and the other on pet health care and pet insurance (of which we would also like to ask permission to focus on your book).
Please let me know if this is possible, if not I would like to thank you for the interview which offered great information that I could still use.
On a separate issue. I had the opportunity to talk to you about my three dogs and concerns I have been having. They are older dogs (the oldest turning 13) and I am apprehensive about dental treatments due to the anesthesia. You had mentioned possible vets that you would recommend, of which I would love to get into contact with if you would please provide me with a name. Also, they are developing some weird looking bumps (almost like large moles) on their face which I am extremely worried about. The vet I took them to said it was nothing to worry about unless they grew drastically or developed puss excretion . . . but I am not comfortable with that answer. So I do not know if you know of a good vet with possible experience on abnormal bumps that could possible let me know what they are and if they are a possible danger.
Again I thank you for all the information that you have provided me (and my three little spoiled dogs would like to thank you to). I hope you are well, and you have found great success in your phenomenal book.
Thank you,
Tania Pantoja
Hi Dr.Halligan,
Just recieved your book the other day and even though we have been proud dog owners for 42 years we can allways get better educated on how to care for our beloved pets.My wife and I have both enjoyed reading it. We currently have a 2yr. 6 month old Not so mini Mini Schnauzer. She has been spayed. Before her was an 15yr. old Shih Tzu and befor her a 17yr. old Cocka Poo.They all hold a special place in our hearts.I am hoping you can answer an important question for us.Lately there has been alot of discussion about how often our dog should be re-vaccinated (boosters) for the DHLPP series of vacines if all shots were given at all the recommended times starting as a puppy.8 weeks,12 weeks 16 weeks plus boosters at one(1) year and two(2) years of age.She is also on monthly heartworm protection, flea and tick control and up to date on her rabies vacine and bordatella vacine.I have read numerous articles the past couple of years that states that you can overvacinate and should only get the DHLPP at three(3) year intervals after two(2) years of age as long as they had all shots up to date till then.
Could you please respond to this as it is an ongoing discussion between my wife and I.I have read at least 5 articles that say if your dog is healthy and gets regular check ups you are doing more harm than good by over vaccinating.
Thank You,
John & Judy Michalec
Thank you for your reply! I just came home from work and my mom was with him all day and she said he acted just fine. His stool and his eating habits are normal. Again, I thank you for your quick response.

Hi Doc Halligan,
I’m Sonja from Belgium and a big animal lover. I have 6 cats and 2 dogs, all except 2 cats are all rescued animals, and I’m very proud of them. 1 dog and 1 cat are from Greece and 1 dog from Spain (were in both countries are no respect for any animal whatsoever).
Last year I bought your book (via a friend who was in US) and I think it is a great book!
As weather changes all over the world I’m getting a bit scared of the safety of my animals. We have a lot wind lately in this country and more and more dwarrelwind (also in my hometown luckily not in area, yet, and I think it is only getting worse). I guess you might have some tips and thinks I can do to prepare me (and my pets) In case of an emergency. I would be gratefully for every tip. Unfortunately is Belgium not a country with good experience compared with other countries. Therefore, my question for some good tips.
I also have been looking on your website and I think it is a great website maybe just those kind of tips what to do when or preventing things, but that is just an idea. I love the pet treat recipes as I would love to get my cats to eat healthier (maybe homemade) food but that is very difficult to change to as they have their taste and preferences…..
Anyway I hope you can give good tips and I will of course regular look at your website.
Hope to hear from you soon.

Doc Halligan,
I actually own and love your bought your book (as well as 5 others for friends), and you once gave me great advice about picking a vet in my area (which my dog and I appreciate very much). I actually have another question perhaps of more importance. I have 3 dogs (one 14 year old, and two 9 year olds of the same litter). The two 9 year olds use to occasionally fight pretty intensely, but over the last 6 years we have been walking them regularly and keeping a close enough eye on them that they ceased to fight so intensely (and in general). There were occasional slips in which one would snap, but nothing serious. Lately there has been an increase in aggression, and one of the two dogs has initiated 2 pretty big fights THIS WEEKENED ALONE. The last of the fights she would not release her hold of the other dogs neck and it took me sticking my hands into her mouth and forcing her to release the dog after some struggle. I was wondering if there is any reason for this increase in aggression and if there might be something wrong with the dog who initiates it. I am worried because the last time she literally went for the throat, and I do not want either dog to get hurt (or worse show any sign of aggression to the older dog or any member of the human family).
I know you have a very busy and hectic schedule, so thank you for the time taken to read this. Congratulations on the success of your book, and the last season of Groomer Has It (perhaps one of the best animal shows ever).
Again thank you,
Tania
I enjoyed your book SO much. It was so informative. I have a 7 yr. old pappilion and I want to know everything about her. I look forward to the article this Sunday.
